Don Spencer & Australian Children's Music Foundation
Whilst known primarily in Australia for his incredible appeal in entertaining children, not many would know the other side of Don Spencer - that of a successful singer/songwriter, TV and radio presenter, and actor. Born and bred in Australia, Don travelled the world at age 19. He travelled extensively but his interest in songwriting only began a year or so later due to a chance meeting in Nairobi, East Africa when he met singer, songwriter, Roger Whittaker. This inspired Don to buy a guitar and decide to try his luck as a songwriter. Returning to England, his career took off with Fireball XL5. Don continued to be one of the UK's most popular pop singers. He performed three national tours with The Rolling Stones, as well as touring with The Four Seasons, The Hollies, Marianne Faithfull and many other world famous artists. Says Don, "For a boy from the bush it was amazing to find myself in the middle of the hysteria that surrounded the British pop scene."
